What a Weekend!

Well my weekend actually started on Thursday evening with a "Sweetest Day" dinner given by the Canfield Lyons Club at the Ala Carte Banquet Center in Canfield, Ohio. The dinner was very good and the guest were very nice. I did a set of music consisting of love songs from the 40's up til recent releases. I was able to get the guest to sing a couple of the standards with me which was fun.

After working all day Friday I headed to High Pointe Church to speak for the "Walking In Victory" women's group which meets once a month. I had been led to speak about "The Power of Your Thoughts". This was confirmed by an e-mail that Darla had sent me earlier in the week as an encouragement. She had no idea what I was going to talk about until I got there. When I told her she was very excited. The praise and worship was led by a young lady named Charity Kurtz, who is a member of the church. I just love her voice and the songs she chose were so very appropriate for the gathering. My goal was to stress to the women the importance of taking total control over their own thinking. The main scripture reference I used was II Corinthians 10:5. We had some audience participation and closed with prayer with those who wanted prayer. Darla is such a sweetheart she even baked cookies for everyone!

Saturday evening I was privileged to be invited to participate in a anniversary celebration at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Struthers, Ohio. The choir director Ms. Pat Green and the minister of music Mr. Charles Robinson did a wonderful job in preparing the program for the community. We had a blessed time of music and praise with people coming in from as far as Cleveland, Ohio to join us.
