The Holborn Herb Growers Guild did a very nice article featuring my good friend Maxine Farina and myself for the month of August.

Rachell Joy
I was introduced to the Herb Guild in 2010 by former president Sue Kasmer. She
spoke very highly of the guild and the friends she had made as a result of being
a part of it. Sue really stayed on me about coming to a meeting to see what it
was all about. Finally I gave in and came. I felt a little awkward but was very
impressed with the knowledge that was shared among the members. I became a
member in 2010.
I can now say that I have made several friends in the guild and have learned a
lot about gardening and plants. I am very happy to have a very close lifetime
friend now be a part of the guild, Max Farina who joined in 2015.
My special memory about herbs would be experimenting with a Comfrey poultice on
my mom, yep that left her arm green for quite awhile!
A special memory about the guild itself would be the Christmas parties and the
Tea event. The ladies really know how to throw an elegant social event.
As for my favorite herb, I love them all!
As for favorite activity, I really enjoy touring people's gardens, no matter how
big or small. Everyone's garden tells a story and is a reflection of a part of
their life. I was on a mission this summer to grow my first ever zucchini plant.
I found a safe small space in the garden where I felt it would be safe from the
animals and look what I got! I am pretty impressed!!

And Max Farina

Max was introduced to the Herb Guild by Rachell Joy about 4 years ago.  She started helping her in the Biblical Gardens.  She joined because she saw that we plant and care for flowers and she loves flowers.  Her special garden memory: “God  has blessed my gardens very much.  Including the 2lb. Cucumber and the pumpkin shaped eggplant I grew and received a red ribbon at the fair for.”  Her special Herb Guild memories are working and helping out for the fair, talking to people, making wreaths and making decorations of bird food for the Christmas tree in Boardman Park.  Her favorite herbs are parsley because she can use it in so many dishes and Lavender.  She says, “ I know God has a sense of humor when he put so many weeds on this earth that look and even smell like flowers.”
